NoSpy combines three independent detection methods — AI camera scan, infrared sweep, and magnetic field detection — so that a camera missed by one technique is caught by another. Here is exactly what the app does, what it catches, and what it cannot replace.
Three methods. One scan.
Most hidden camera apps pick one detection method and present its results as a complete answer. That is a problem, because no single method catches every camera type. A Wi-Fi scanner finds networked cameras but misses SD-card devices entirely. An RF detector finds transmitting devices but is silent on cameras that record locally. An IR sweep finds night-vision cameras but only when they are actively operating in low light.
NoSpy runs all three methods and guides you through the physical checks that electronics cannot replace — so a clean result means something.
Detection methods in NoSpy
Uses computer vision to analyse surfaces in your phone’s live camera feed, flagging the reflective characteristics and pinhole geometry typical of hidden lenses embedded in everyday objects — hooks, chargers, frames, clocks. Works on any camera, powered or not, as long as a lens is present.
Uses your phone’s front-facing camera — which typically lacks the IR-cut filter on rear cameras — to detect the near-infrared emission produced by night-vision cameras in low-light mode. IR sources appear as bright white or purple-white points with no visible-light equivalent in the room.
Uses your phone’s magnetometer to detect the electromagnetic signatures of recording devices, microphones, and trackers embedded in walls, furniture, and vehicles. Particularly effective for devices with no optical component — audio recorders, GPS trackers, AirTag-style devices.
For cameras that no electronic method catches — a pinhole lens behind a partition with no exposed hardware — NoSpy’s built-in guide covers the flashlight sweep technique and physical inspection sequence that documented cases demonstrate is still required. Knowing where an app’s limits are is part of the detection.
A motion-activated camera recording to an SD card in daylight emits no Wi-Fi signal, no radio frequency, and no infrared light. Every scanner that relies only on electronic signals misses it. NoSpy’s AI lens detection addresses this directly — and the in-app guide tells you when a physical check is still the only reliable answer.
Everything runs on your phone. Nothing leaves it.
Fully offline
AI lens detection, IR analysis, and magnetometer sweep all run on-device. No internet connection required. No data is transmitted or stored externally.
No account required
Download and scan immediately. No sign-up, no email, no login. A privacy tool that asks you to register an account before protecting your privacy is making a poor argument for itself.
Scan history (Premium)
Review past scans, compare results across rooms or properties, and keep a record of what was checked and when — useful for repeat visits to the same rental or accommodation.
Wi-Fi network audit (Premium)
Lists all devices on the current network, flags unfamiliar device names, and highlights hardware manufacturer identifiers associated with common surveillance equipment.
In-context guidance
Every detection mode ships with plain-language documentation of what it catches, what it misses, and what you should do next. Results are explained, not just displayed.
Bluetooth tracker scan
Detects AirTags and compatible Bluetooth trackers nearby — relevant for vehicles, bags, and accommodations where location tracking is a concern alongside camera surveillance.
Accuracy figures
We test NoSpy against actual consumer hidden cameras in a dedicated lab — not simulated signals. The figures below are from our May 2026 test round. Full methodology is published on the Review page so you can assess it independently.

Tuned for each situation
The threat profile differs in a fitting room, a short-term rental, a hotel room, and a car. NoSpy’s scanning modes and in-app guides reflect this:
| Location | Primary risk | Detection approach |
|---|---|---|
| Fitting rooms & bathrooms | Hook-style cameras, partition pinhole lenses, items left in cubicle | IR sweep AI lens scan Flashlight guide |
| Short-term rentals | Smoke detectors, alarm clocks, USB chargers, picture frames at distance | AI lens scan Wi-Fi audit IR sweep Physical guide |
| Hotels | Extended range placements across standard room furniture and fixtures | AI lens scan IR sweep Magnetic sweep |
| Vehicles | GPS trackers, AirTags, magnetic mount devices | Magnetic sweep Bluetooth scan |

NoSpy’s job is to give you the same thirty-second check that used to require specialist equipment — and to be honest enough about its limits that you know when you still need to look with your own eyes. Detection without explanation is not protection.
